The consortium includes internationally leading groups in research on adaptive IE and KM (University of Sheffield, ITC-Irst, University of Karlsruhe and the Open University), and two companies that provide innovative KM solutions for customers (Quinary and Ontoprise).

We envisage three kinds of players in the consortium: technology providers, users and customers. Academic partners will play the role of technology providers; they will provide innovative IE and KM technology. Industrial users will play the role of users of the technology, providing requirements for the technology to be developed and testing the produced tools. Moreover they will integrate the IE+KM methodologies in those tools they use for the every-day work for KM application development and test the result in real applications involving real customers. Customers are not formally part of the project, but they are part of the user group. Their role is to provide applications scenarios for requirement analysis if possible, to test the applications developed by the consortium.
